Two wins out of two for Adult Camogie teams

Both senior and junior camogie teams were in action in Marlay on Tuesday evening in the second round of the league.

The senior girls beat Ballyboden’s B team with a scoreline of 2-7 to 3-3. Scores from Jane Tully, Louise O’Shea, Niamh McKennedy and Amber Traynor helped the team register their first league win of 2015. Due to injuries the team were without any subs and found the going tough in the second half but strong defensive displays from Aisling Browne and Breda Kennedy in the final minutes helped the girls hold out for a 1 point win.

The Junior camogie team played their first league game against Na Gael óga. This was the very first outing for newly formed club Na Gael óga’s camogie team. The gaelgóirs were full of enthuasiasm but unfortunately their lack of experience let them down on the day. All of the Ballinteer forwards had scores to their name with particular mention to the under 16 girls who played their very first game at adult level; Siofra Andrews, Isobel Cullen and Megan Broe. They never let up and the final score finished 5.13 to no score to the Ballinteer girls.

Next Tuesday night has the senior girls at home to Good Council and the junior girls away to Parnells. Both games throw in at 6.45pm, all support welcome

Our senior hurlers continue their league campaign against O’Tooles this Friday April 17th at 19:00 in Marlay Park. The hurlers have got off to a good start in the league so far with 1 win and a draw from 2 games. The game against O’Tooles will be the last competitive game before the 1st Championship game against Cuala, so Fridays game should be an extremely competitive affair. All support welcome and appreciated.

Great wins for Adult and Minor Ladies Footballers

2015_04_14_12_10_55.png

Ladies football kicked off last week with a home game against a tough Clontarf side. In the past these matches have always been tight, competitive affairs and last Wednesday was to be no different.

Johns got off to a great start taking their chances early on and went into half time with a four point lead. The second half picked up where the first left off with Johns building a 13 point lead. However Clontarf rallied from their slow start and began to close the gap. An exciting finish ensued with Johns coming away victorious on a score line of 4-7 to 3-9.

Next up is an away game to Parnells on Wednesday, 15th April. Throw in is at 7:30 and all support is welcome.

The minor team had a great win on Monday night over Skerries Harps in Marley Park on a scoreline of 10-22 to 1-1. Next up for them is an away match to Ballyboden next Monday, 20th April.

Our Senior Hurlers played their 2nd game of the league campaign on Sunday last against Lucan Sarsfields. Over the past 12 months, we have played Lucan in 2 league games and 1 championship game and after Sundays result, we have now drawn with them on all 3 occasions. The game on Sunday was played in difficult conditions and was a tight affair all through. Glenn Whelan scored our goal in the 1st half and was a constant threat all game in the full forward line. As the game neared its finish Lucan lead by 1 point but up stepped veteran Feargal Chambers to level matters with a great score on the run from his left. Another deadlock against Lucan but some positives to take forward into our next game against O Tooles. Special mention and speedy recovery to Ciarán Walsh who broke his thumb in the 2nd half, he’ll be badly missed but will hopefully be back in action soon.
