Last night our Senior football team recorded another great victory in the league as they beat table toppers Round Towers. This is now the second team that they have knocked off top spot.
The game started perfectly for the Ballinteer lads as Mark Kavanagh won the throw in and played it directly to Johnny McNally who turned and put the ball over the bar within 10 seconds of the start.
They kept the intensity up and the whole game was played in the Round Towers half. They added three more points to that tally before Towers launched their first attack. Towers started to do some scoring of their own but Ballinteer stayed one step ahead of them leading 6 – 4 at half time.
It looked like it would be a tight game when Towers got the first score of the 2nd half to bring it to within a point. However Conor Parker McCabe’s long ball into the forwards beat all the defenders and left Johnny McNally one on one with the goalkeeper and he made no mistake with his finsh to stretch the lead to 4 points.
Ballinteer held the lead right to the end when Towers scored a goal to bring it back to one point but it was too little too late as the referree blew the final whistle shortly after.
