3 out of 4 for Adult Footballers

A good weekend of football saw 3 out of our 4 adult football teams kick off their seasons with victory. The weekend started with our Senior Team taking on Cuala on Saturday evening. The young team gave a very good account of themselves in the first half and led at half time after two wonderful scores from Mark Kavanagh but fell away in the second half even with Paul O’Donnell notching up 3 points, allowing Cuala to win the game 2-06 to 0-08.

Our Junior A team then took on Ballyboden St. Endas in the second game of the weekend on Sunday morning. An excellent first half saw the lads lead by 5 points at half time and they seemed to be cruising. Points from Shane McCann, Colm O’Donnell and Rob Nangle had them firming in the driving seat. However Ballyboden came out flying in the second half and had the game level within 15 minutes of the restart. Ballinteer, however, turned on the style and a Shane McCann penalty ensured that they went on to win the game by 5 points in the end.

Straight after that match, our Junior B team took on the same opposition and had just as convincing a win as the Junior A team. The beat them by 5 points. Kevin Kirrane scored 5 points while Cian Duffy and Brian Monaghan pitched with 2 each.

In the afternoon, the Junior C team took on Croi Ro Naofa and also won by 5 points 1-13 to 1-08.
