After topping their group in the first round of the Senior Hurling Championship, Ballinteer take on local rivals Naomh Olaf in the Quarter Final. Ballinteer had a very good first round with three wins, a draw and and loss putting them on top of their group for points difference from Naomh Mearnog. Olafs made it a small bit harder for themselves however losing three times in the first round and ending up with four points to claim the last qualifying spot by two points from St. Marks.
The match takes place in Marley Park this Saturday at 5:15pm and all support is very welcome.

The Senior Football team secured their Senior status with style on Saturday afternoon with a fantastic performance against Fingallians. They had the perfect start and had scored 2-08 in the first 25 minutes while Fingallians could only muster up 1-01. The two first half goals game from Shane McCann and it looked like Ballinteer were going to have a lot to spare as they 2-08 to 1-02 at half time. However Fingallians didn’t lie down and came firing back in the second half with 3 goals, reducing the deficit to just 4 points a one stage. This didn’t stop Ballinteer however who went and scored another goal through Nicky Deveraux. The game ended 3-11 to 4-02. The victory insures Senior football in Ballinteer for the 13th year in a row. Congratulations to the whole team and management.

Sunday the 26th September is a big day for all concerned with Dublin Ladies GAA including our very own star Eimear Martin, All in Ballinteer St. Johns GAA club want to wish Gerry McGill, Eimear Martin and the whole Dublin panel involved tomorrow the very best of luck as they go for their first Brendan Martin Cup.

Our Senior Football Team have their final league game of the year this Saturday in Marley Park. They take on Fingallians in a must win match. Victory will move them to 12 points and secure their Senior status for another year. A loss could put them into a relegation playoff to fight for their survival. The match takes place on Saturday evening at 5:30 in Marley Park and all support is much appreciated.

Well why don’t you join your fellow female members for a bit of fun activity on the all-weather pitch in BCS every Tuesday at 7.30 pm??
It commences Tuesday September 28th and the duration will be one hour, where there will be games such as soccer and rounders to play. It is a break from the serious training that is done throughout the year but nonetheless an easy way to stay fit and active during the winter! All female members are welcome, so please do join us! All you have to do is simply turn up and ask for Fiona Hayes or Louise Hayes on arrival.

There was a very successful season this year for our Under 12 camogie team. The girls won the Division 2, winning promotion to Division 1 for next year. They went undefeated all year, winning all eight of their league matches. They also added the Naomh Brid Shield to their trophy cabinet. They won 3 of their five games in the tournament and also drew one. Congratulations to the girls and their managers, Peter O’Shea and Dermot Quinn on a tremendous year.
Ballinteer beat Noamh Fionbarra in a tight contest in the Senior Hurling Championship on Saturday evening in Marley Park. The side were level for alot of the game but St. Johns metal showed as they eventually ran out 7 point winners. The teams were level at half time 1-07 to 1-07 with Noamh Fionnbarra having missed a penalty after a great stop on the line. Ballinteer moved up through the gears after half time and started to pull away with a goal from Fergal Chambers and a penalty scored by Joey Maher. Naomh Fionnbarra were, however, thrown a lifeline as they were awarded their second penalty of the game. This time however they hit the post and the ball was cleared away. The game ended 3-13 to 1-12.
On the 26th September our very own Eimear Martin lines out for the Dubs in which they try to win their very first All Ireland so make sure to come out and support to the jackies in their conquest for their first title against Tyrone.

The Minor footballers take to the field Sunday morning for game two of Minor Championship 2010, Both team take on Raheny, with the "A" team playing their first team counterparts in Marley on Sunday morning at 10.30
The B team will be looking to put the first loss out of their system with a win over in Raheny against their second team, that game throws in at 10.30 also on Sunday morning.

Our two adult hurling teams are in action this weekend in the Dublin Championship. The Senior Team take on Naomh Fionnbarra in Marley Park on Saturday Evening. Ballinteer top the Championship Group with 5 points but with only 3 points between first and last the group is too close for comfort. So far they have lost to Raheny, drawn with Naomh Mearnog and beaten St. Vincents and St. Oliver Plunketts ER. Fionnbarra are a point behind in fourth place after one won, a loss and two draws. The match throws in at 17:45 on Saturday in Marley Park.
The Junior Hurling team are also in action over the weekend in the Quarter-Final of the Junior B Championship. They take on Crumlin in Marley Park at 10:30 on Sunday morning. The winners of this will play the winners of Parnells V Erins Isle who also play at the same time on Sunday morning.
